Found this little number while I was flicking through a pile of French Vogues from the 80's & 90's. I remember the days when I actually got a tight granny perm done at the hairdressers so I could brush my hair out like this.. Why? I'm not too sure, I've tried to get rid of all evidence this ever happened

Today has been quite exciting because it was my first day with my new intern Ella. The weather has been horrid but we've spent the day in my old college library, Leeds Art, sifting through loads of old Vogues then onto having a lovely coffee with a ridiculous amount of sugar, making me completely wired for about half an hour while we were hunting for fabrics..
We'll be starting on making samples of pockets, collars and cuffs tomorrow which sounds quite tedious but should be lots of fun! I'm on the hunt for someone who can knit and would like to help with my collection.. If you are interested or know anyone who would be up for it then drop me an email at email@example.com
Hopefully I should be getting a lovely industrial 5 thread overlocker, button holer and buttoner (two of the scariest machines I have ever used, no joke) but as for an ordinary sewing machine, I'm having to use my 7 year old domestic which sounds and runs like a rusty old truck.. Oh the joys!

Skin tight lycra and rubber pieces teamed with elegant double breasted tailored suits, effortlessly smart all in ones and great fly detailing. Simple designs with unusual details. That’s what’s really been grabbing my attention when looking through the resort 2011 collections.

Westminster Graduate 2010
Sophie's collection is inspired by sculpture and the characteristics of the fluidity of draped fabric. She has used an array of coloured faux fur and sheepskin, manipulating it by cutting and shaving into it after working with hair stylist Rene Gelston, learning all sorts of shaving techniques. The collection is amazing. Each look is a fantastic avant garde show piece as well as each garment individualy being desirably wearable and luxurious. Really really NEED the black jacket with the collar!!!!

Carly's sportswear collection was inspired by black light posters from the Aquarian age. She's designed both mens and womenswear which sat perfectly together as they went down the runway. It's diverse, bright, fun AND wearable.

Hannahs collection was inspired by figure skating and childhood memories of dance classes and gymnastics. The shoes are real ice skates which Hannah made into perfectly walkable working shoes by making a mould and filling around the skates with clear resin ....wow!

Ralphs collection is inspired by super heroes including Superman, Spiderman and Power Rangers as well as Pokemon!!! He loves bright bold blocky colours and especially has a thing for triangles. He's used specific waterproof fabrics including latex, neoprene and ripstop nylons mixed with comfy soft jersey. I reallly love the massive triangle bag in particular. BLESS IT XXXX
Us Westminster 1st years had the opportunity to work with the 3rd years while they made their final collections... we were assigned a 3rd year each to help out over the period of 3 weeks. I helped out Ralph Rovero with his colourful menswear collection which was loadssss of fun and so inspiring too! Here's some pics of us looking very very happy considering the underlying stressy stress of making a collection!!

Last Thursday I had a fashion shoot for my creations from my last 3 projects. It went reallllly well because the weather was great!! I worked with Jon Stanley Austin who is an amazing photographer who I have worked with on a few occasions, he was brilliant with directing the model into great poses and chose the locations. He wanted to play about with shadow and use the sun seeing as it was out for once!! I also worked with Freda Lil Ellis, Hair & Make up artist. I have also worked with Freda on a lot of my shoots because we have a very similar taste and work well together and the make up always looks flawless. She can do any look whether it be heavy and dramatic or soft and neutral. My model was aceeeeeeeeeeee!! She's called Kelly Thomas and I've known her for a few years, she modelled for one of my first ever shoots back in 2008 (I think..) when I made all my metallic crazy dresses. She used to be a brunette but recently has gone firey red so I thought this would really work.
So these are some of the final shots. I am SOOO pleased. I originally intended on getting some really simple front, back & side shots but these more editorial style ones are ace and I'm a happy little woman.
ALSO I've just made a new fan page on facebook so I can update that with photo's and things I've been up to so please join :)
